RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
& teens above 9th grade
The Right of Christian Initiation for Adults, commonly referred to as RCIA, is a program of instruction marked by different steps on the journey of faith. It is a journey focused on the teachings of Jesus, the Sacramental life of the Roman Catholic Church and the witness to which Jesus calls each person. At St. Charles we include all those who are seeking to renew their faith, those preparing for one of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) as well as those who wish to focus more deeply on a life of faith as well as those seeking to explore the call to conversion.

Each participant has much to offer and joins with others on a faith journey supported by others on the same journey. This program offers an introduction to the liturgy, an understanding of the traditions of the Church and an opportunity to inquire, to discuss, to pray and to be supported by those who seek to find the Word of God, the Creed and the Eucharist meaningful in their lives.
The goal of this program is to invite, inform and support each one’s interest in fulfilling God’s call to participate fully in the Catholic faith.
Available also is the opportunity for children past the primary grades who would wish to learn about the Catholic faith and, ultimately, “catch up” to their grade level after instruction for Baptism and/or First Eucharist. Individualized instruction is the framework of their instruction. This is an opportunity for the children of those adults who enter into the RCIA program or for children who are themselves desirous of returning to their spiritual connection with the Church.
